Those of you who have been following TPS for a while know that I have an obsession with shoes. Obsession. I think it all started back in the 5th grade when I was a full six inches shorter than the second shortest kid in my class. I’ll never forget my mom bought me those Steve Madden double decker platform sneakers (I forgot about those for a while… I will make those cool again..) and allowed me to wear them to phys ed as if they were normal sneakers. I literally never took them off. Wearing heels has always boosted my confidence and has allowed me have conversations with men in business eye to eye (or at least almost eye to eye.) It sounds crazy, but there is nothing more condescending to me than someone looking down to you – even if it is unintentional and literally because you are a foot shorter than them. Don’t get me wrong, I can totally rock a flat and feel good about myself, but there is no better feeling than putting on a beautiful pair of high heels and killing it in a meeting. There is also no worse feeling then getting a huge blister on the side of your foot and having to keep walking around in the heels that gave it to you… but pshh who cares about that!
Due to my serious shoe obsession, I recently bought these black pumps with green fur pom poms on the back. They’re definitely a bit “funky” for my typical style, but when paired with classic work clothes I think they look great in the office! I’m trying to have a little more fun with my pumps… and think you should too! It’s way easier to take a risk with a shoe in the office, than with an outfit, anyway.
Below are some fun pump inspirations you can shop, but I’m also going to highlight a few!
Fur
Trim your shoes with fur to add a bit of seasonal pizazz! These shoes I just bought have a removable fur pom pom that weave through the ankle strap. If you didn’t want to splurge on offensively expensive shoes – no judgement… I should be the one who is judged 🙂 I have a few options for you:
- Try buying these great pointed toe pump with an ankle strap and adding your own green pom pom to the back of it (this one is only $3 and is about the size of mine!) You can hot glue them to the back of the ankle strap, or stitch them in so you can remove in the summer.
- I love these navy and black pumps that also have a fur trim on the heel. They have a very similar look and are much more affordable.
- These lace up, fur trimmed pumps are currently on sale for $70! ($60 if you are eligible for the promotion!) They come in beige, navy and black! I prefer the black for the fall and winter months.
Texture
- I love wearing velvet in the fall and winter – especially in a shoe. I love these velvet pointed toe pumps with an ankle strap especially because of the color. It is a perfect neutral color that can be worn with black, gray, navy, burgundy, green… etc.
- I also really like the deep burgundy color and chunky heel of these velvet pumps
- Try a less obvious fall texture like satin. Satin is so luxurious and can actually be worn all year long. I’m considering buying these for myself. They come in a bunch of colors and seem to be just as great for in the office as out. I love pairing a dressy pump (like a satin texture) with a pair of casual jeans.
Shape
It depends on your office setting, but this season there are a lot of amazing options for pumps with unconventional shapes. I’ve seen a lot of this shape (the v cut out… its hard to explain!) that I think is totally fine for most office settings as long as you stick to a more neutral color. If you’re looking for something a little more traditional, try a slingback in an interesting print (love these.) And of course, mules are everywhere.
