Polka dots in the office have somewhat of a 50s flair and are a good reminder of the days when women weren’t as welcome in the workplace as they are today. I know, I’m getting real deep here. But seriously, I love the retro vibes of a good polka dot pattern, especially in a modern cut, like this Veronica Beard style. This dress is my go-to – I wear it when I want to look polished, I wear it after a big meal (like Superbowl) and have an added appreciation for a shirred waistline, and I wear it on the weekends out with friends. It is one of the most versatile dresses I own.
The Veronica Beard dress comes in a blue pattern too that I also love if burgundy isn’t your thing.
Bold patterns are perfect for spring and an easy way to start to introduce some more color into your looks (yes, burgundy is a color to me!!) Although this is a totally different fit, I also love this bow blouse polka dot dress that is way more affordable and achieves a similar look. One other option if you are looking for a bold, retro-inspired print is this Ann Taylor geometric dress. I feel like when I first started working six years ago Ann Taylor and Banana Republic were so frumpy! I shopped there because I felt like I had to and not because I wanted to. I am so impressed with the evolution of both brands (and this is not an ad I promise!) If you haven’t checked out their spring collections – you should! I plan to stop by both stores this weekend!
