Although I am all about incorporating trendy, weekend pieces into your work wardrobe, there is something very powerful about a classic look. Especially on a Monday. My “go-to” professional look is a pair of Theory trousers and a silk bow blouse. For a classic, corporate look, I like mixing neutral colors and pairing with a fun shoe. For today’s look, I dug some older pieces out of the closet. There are so many great sales coming up that now is the time shop in your own closet and re-style old pieces.
The bow blouse here is five years from Diane von Furstenberg old and has worn incredibly well. My mom got me this shirt for my birthday my first year out of college in the real world and I still wear it often! Bow blouses never go out of style and are truly timeless. As you can see, this one still looks brand new. Bow blouses look great with anything from a classic trouser to a chunky knit sweater and leggings underneath (I am biased to the Rag and Bone Simone pant)
Now the pants. Theory pants are not the most budget friendly, however, they too will stand the test of time. Mine last for about 3 years if I am wearing them often. Mind you, I tend to sit at my desk with my legs crossed, which can’t be good for the fabric! I loved this steel blue color for the pants because it matches just about everything but is a little more interesting than black. I love the look of a classic trouser and a bow blouse, but these also look great with a simple turtleneck or chunky sweater.
Last, are the shoes (possibly my favorite part of the whole look.) Mary Jane pumps are very much in style right now, which is awesome because it is a very work appropriate fall trend! The ones I am wearing are the Aquazurra Mary Jane pump, which have an almond toe and chunky heel. They are comfortable, feminine, and professional at the same time.
