Fall is my favorite time of year!! This is why I consistently make the mistake of stocking up on the new fall trends in August when it is still over 100 degrees outside in New York. I usually get lured in by all of the e-mails, the beautiful fall themed windows that line the street, and my fellow bloggers posting trendy chunky sweaters and jeans (which, by the way, is absolutely miserable to shoot in the middle of the summer) – and by the time October rolls around I am DONE shopping and mad at myself for all of the early purchases I made that I can no longer return (I realize how ridiculous this sounds as I type it, but am also thinking there has got to be someone else out there who does the same!) Trends change, and inventory changes – so this year, I am trying to be a little smarter, and PATIENT with my fall purchases.
This A.L.C. flower print dress is definitely a “splurge” outfit for me. But the reason why I got so excited by it is because it really can be worn almost all year round. As long as it is not insanely hot and humid (like today,) it is great for summer – as pictured above) but can easily transition to fall or even winter. Think of it with knee high flat boots for a casual Friday in October, or with charcoal tights and gray suede pumps for the middle of the winter. Especially when you buy “splurge” items, it’s important to make sure you’re buying things that have optimal usage. This dress checks that box for me – and I’m a sucker for winter white and am already so excited for it to start getting colder here!
