Today we took a little road trip from Milan down the coast to Provence and then finally to St. Tropez. I’ve done my fair share of road trips in the U.S. and I must say this (as expected) was in a whole league of its own. I truly spent the bulk of the five hours pressed up against my window staring at the beautiful scenery around me. Giant tunnels connected the huge mountains around us as our tiny car veered in and out of the countryside. We made a pit stop at the Chateau D’Esclans (the one an only maker of Whispering Angel) for a tasting and a tour of the property and then headed down to the town of St. Tropez on a one lane road worse than Montauk Highway 🙂
Highlights: The U.S. is the second largest consumer of Rose (fun fact!) and unlike most other wines, rose has to go through the fermentation process at very cool temperatures. Most roses’ are kept in large metal containers, but a new-ish Chateau D’Esclans brand called “Rock Angel” spends some time in oak (I’m no wine connoisseur so hopefully some of this makes sense!) The property was absolutely stunning and truly inspiring. When we finally arrived in St. Tropez – we were starving at ate at the one and only Club 55 who has the absolute best crudite (picture missing) and dessert in the world (in my opinion) – the beach isn’t bad either! After an exhausting day, we went for a casual dinner and I whipped out my good old faithful wide leg jeans and a white Elizabeth and James tube top! Call me a loser, but I’m sleeping through tonight’s evening festivities to prepare for tomorrow’s fun 🙂
