YES! You can wear plaid to work. I’m not talking about those (fantastic) Rails plaid button downs (that I admit to owning a one or two of), but done just right, plaid is perfectly acceptable for the office. I found lots of more polished plaid dresses this season and was pleasantly surprised with how playful & appropriate this one was. Although the one I am wearing (the Elkin Bassett dress) seems to be almost sold out, I picked out a few others that I thought could also do the trick. I’m always conscious of appearing older than my actual age while at the office, so I think plaid can be particularly challenging. So if you dare to incorporate this print into your wardrobe, make sure the piece has one element of sophistication (I think the severe drop waist and bouncy pleat works for this one, especially when paired with a silk blouse underneath). I also have to shout out the nude patent shoes that certainly have a place in every girl’s closet! PS – it’s about to get chilly here in New York, I hope this isn’t my last look without tights underneath!!
