Scarlett’s room reveal with Crate and Kids

motherhood· out of office

I’ve talked a lot on stories about my new apartment. Although moving into a new home, especially with a (relatively) new baby is so exciting, decorating and renovating is a very daunting process! You may have heard me rant that while we were renovating we moved into my parents house and ended up overstaying our welcome by a couple of months! Some of our stuff was in storage, some of our stuff was in our new apartment, and the rest was at my parents. Having my pageants around with Scarlett was actually pretty fun (and convenient) but sage to say we are finally ready to be home.

Crate and Kids Jasper Table and Shore Chair

This makes me ever more excited to share some details from our apartment with all of you. Scarlett’s room is my favorite in the whole apartment, especially after I completed it with some new pieces from Crate & Kids. I’ve been a fan of Crate & Barrel for years and have happily bought their furniture and accessories (they have the best every day serving platters!) so was thrilled when they launched a kid’s line.

After Scarlett’s room was near complete, I knew the one thing missing was a table for her to play at. This Jasper Modern Table, exclusive to Crate & Kids, has become the “show piece” of her room and is where she spends her best play time. What I love about this table is that the legs are adjustable, so it will grow with her. Kids rooms are constantly evolving, as I have already seen from Scarlett’s first 17 months, so the fact that I can adjust the legs higher and lower is major. In NYC, I am always short on storage, so the storage under the top is perfect. It’s actually become a fun game for Scarlett to hide things in there. She even sticks her baby dolls in there! Now that Scarlett is almost officially a toddler, I’m trying to make her room less of a nursery and more of a “big kid” room. I thought the dark wooden legs of the table added a modern feel that was a little less “babyish” than the rest of her decor.

As you can see from some of these (I’m biased… but adorable) photos, she has used the table for pretend meals with Mr. Bear, coloring, and even loves sitting in the Crate and Barrel exclusive Shore Chairs while I read her a book.

I also decided to get this Woven Seagrass Basket. As I mentioned, I ALWAYS need more storage. The problem with some of the other storage baskets we had was that I’d fill them with toys and Scarlett wasn’t able to reach the top! It would actually frustrate her when she wasn’t able to choose her own toys. This Woven Seagrass Basket is the perfect size that Scarlett could see everything inside and decide what she wants to play with and when. I also thought the decor matched the table and helped my “big kid” vibe I was trying to incorporate more of.

Crate & Kids has been such a great addition to the realm of kids furniture and accessories brands. I remember when we first started looking to decorate Scarlett’s room we felt in need of more options. Click these links to shop the basket, table and chairs but definitely check out the site in general because there are so many great options to choose from. Especially if you don’t have a play table for your child… get one ASAP!!
