That Pencil Skirt

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I must say, mine was pretty eventful! I finally took a day to be a tourist in my own city and walked across the Brooklyn bridge (sort of embarrassing that I still hadn’t done it.) Although the crowd was pretty intense and we had to walk painfully slowly (…yes, that’s the New Yorker in me), it was incredible. The views of the city were spectacular, and the bridge itself is almost even more spectacular. My goal for spring is to try and go to a New York site I’ve never been to every weekend. It seems silly not to take full advantage of everything this jam-packed city has to offer, especially when it is right in my backyard…

These shots were taking in the Meatpacking district, which definitely boasts all of the downtown charm you’d expect. Since I live uptown, I often only venture to this area in the evening for a dinner or fun night out, but I absolutely loved coming down during the day. The cobblestone streets are so charming, and ten times easier to walk on with sneakers on rather than in these silly heels! (which I admit, I changed out of after I took these pictures!)

Everyone knows about “winter white” – but what about white in the spring? I say, why not! Although this skirt is fabulous for the summer time and totally brings the yacht-life to the office (which is so necessary if your job is anything like mine where hours are spent deep in your cubicle, far far away from fresh air!), I think it is completely appropriate to whip out pre-Memorial Day and rock in the spring time. I paired it with a cashmere short sleeve sweater that I wore all throughout the fall and winter because it’s not quite yet 80 degrees and sunny in New York!

Let’s talk about this jacket, which is my favorite purchase of the season – you can say I’m obsessed. I find the fit to be so chic and love the silver button detailing. The best part about it is that, although it is white, it could really work all year round (think of it with heather grey trousers and an oversized oxblood scarf in the winter?

Lastly, these off-white M Gemi shoes… aaah. They are so comfy, the right price point, and have looked great with just about anything I put on. Throwing these on is a great way to quickly turn one of your “go to” winter outfits into a spring ready look.
