First and foremost – I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. There are times in our careers where we are asked to step up to the plate to accomplish something. I had a week filled with many of these opportunities. For weeks like these, the highs are very high and conversely, the lows can be very low. In the spirit of Lin-Manuel Miranda and “not throwing away my shot” said much less eloquently… I had to bust my ass this past week to get through some big opportunities I had at work. I’m sure you’ve all been there, but I actually found that when all of my hard work paid off, I was reminded as to why I wake up every morning and do what I do. Hitting a new milestone at work is a good reminder of a few things: 1. You are probably much smarter than you give yourself credit for – but if you never push the boundaries and challenge yourself, you’ll never know 2. There is no substitution for hard work, and 3. Work is just that…. work, but don’t loose sight in your day to day of that incredible, feeling when you accomplish something new, remembering that it may not happen so frequently.

As you you can see – I’ve really been channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw and did some deep thinking! And… as I hit a somewhat transitional point in my career, we are also transitioning into Spring! Which to me, means a ton of things…

1. Spring cleaning is very real for me, and I will be cleaning out my closet big time this weekend. If you clothing you are “done” with, I strongly encourage everyone to give it away to Dress for Success (any good cause, really, I just think we can all relate to this one) and

2. C O L O R!!

This pink trench coat (from Topshop – who’s new stuff looks amazing. Check out their Look Book) is a new spring addition to my wardrobe that I am so excited about! For me, it is just the right shade of pink that it acts as a neutral and could be worn with lots of different options underneath. I chose gray – which may have been a bit on the safe side, but really does keep the pink looking crisp and professional. The gray skirt is from J. Crew (who is having 25% off new spring looks right now) and a great transitional piece. It is a wool, so is good for those 60 degree days that aren’t quite warm enough for the linen but also don’t require tights and tons of layers. Shop this look below!
