In an attempt to better incorporate color into my wardrobe, I’ve been experimenting with color-blocked options! Vince put a ton of them out there this year and I recently got inspired when seeing their display in the storefront. Color blocking doesn’t have to be a sweater with . . . (okay. excuse how literal I am being here!) color blocks. It could also mean wearing a green top, blue pants, and gray shoes (three completely separate colors that seem to just blend together when looking as a whole. The more traditional color-blocked sweater (as shown above) works especially well when paired with a neutral bag and shoe. I loved the combination of the Kelly green with beige and black in the sweater I am wearing above (it’s an oldie but a goodie!) and although I wasn’t able to locate the same color combo online, hopefully the ones I’ve pulled below will give you some inspiration.
Separately, I PROMISE I’ll stop posting my gray shoe/ bag combination but I have seriously gotten SO much use out of it. If have always been a believer in splurging on one or two stretch items a year – or a season – whatever your budget allows for rather than getting a ton of smaller ticketed items. THIS was mine for the season! A wardrobe – especially one for work-wear – cannot be built overnight, but adding a niece item or two each year will allow you to build something beautiful over time. I like to stick to classics, Basic pumps, totes, and neutral colors for the pricey items and stick to the Zara’s of the world to fill in with the trendier stuff that surely won’t outlive next year’s bonus. As of late, I have also been trying to shop in color schemes. I’m sure you have noticed but I have a TON of gray and navy in my wardrobe (including the perfect shoes and bags to boot). I’m thinking of expanding into maroon for the fall. . . what do you think? If anyone sees any nice maroon work pants, let me know – I am totally looking!
