I promise I’ll stop drooling over Tory Burch, but I am still completely obsessed with everything she’s put out this season. This plaid top has everything I love – a fun print that isn’t overwhelming, neutral color scheme… and a tie (I sorta have a thing for menswear!) In looking through some of these photos I was inspired to find some more plaid pieces I love. Plaid was never a print I was particularly attracted too, it typically comes off (in my humble opinion) young and far too casual for a corporate setting. However, I have been utterly surprised this season to see this print notched up on the sophistication scale. My top pics from my online browsing are below – along with details from this look!
Top: Tory Burch (here)
Pants: Rag and Bone (here) / these are seriously the most comfortable leggings I have ever found that somehow look a lot nicer than leggings and totally work appropriate when you put them on!
Shoes: Kate Spade (similar here)
I’m in the midst of “back to work” fall shopping, so let me know which of the below you think I should I get!! Here are my initial thoughts…
The BB Dakota jacket (photo seriously doesn’t do it justice, link here), is cropped just enough to have that very polished corporate look, but has frayed edges too make it “funky enough” to transition to a post work look with a pair of washed out jeans. The James Jeans cuffed trousers just look so comfy… and the print is the right amount of subtle. The Rag & Bone crop top – perfect to wear a silk blouse under with a pair of gray slacks. And of course – how can I not mention the pencil skirt by Getting Back to Square One. I love the color scheme for fall, especially paired with a crisp white oxford blouse (… or even with a burnt yellow sweater?)
