YES! I DID IT! I wore wide leg trousers out on the weekend. I bought these pants with the purpose of being able to wear them both to the office and out on a Saturday night, but – I can’t lie, the thought of throwing on wide leg trousers in a sea of leather mini skirts and skinny jeans was a just a bit jarring. With Memorial Day behind us,* and beautiful blue skies during the day, I thought this weekend was the perfect time to try these babies out. My wide leg trousers of choice are Theory (shocker!) and are a sheer linen fabric, and I left them on the long side when I hemmed them. Especially if you are petite. like I am, long, wide trousers can be your best friends for the summer – as long as they are hemmed to the appropriate length. If left long enough to just skim the bottom of the floor, you will instantly look thinned and elongated. If hemmed too short, though, your legs will actually wind up looking much shorter! If you’re anything like me, you’ll want those legs to look as long as they possibly can! I paired these pants with a classic, Everlane, silk button down top, and wore the whole ensemble at an early drinks with my mom at New York’s new Polo Bar,** a big group dinner with a bunch of friends at Rosies,*** and even out dancing after. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with how appropriate I felt at all three occasions!
